More Details

Saathi is a selective herbicide by UPL Limited, widely used in rice cultivation for its effective control of a broad spectrum of weeds.1 It contains Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl 10% WP as its active ingredient.2

Key features and benefits:

  • Selective action: Controls weeds effectively without harming the rice crop.3

  • Pre-emergence and early post-emergence control: Can be applied before weed emergence or in the early stages of weed growth.4

  • Systemic action: Absorbed by the weeds, providing thorough control.5

  • Broad-spectrum weed control: Effective against a wide range of grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds.6

  • Long residual control: Provides extended weed suppression, reducing the need for multiple applications.7

  • Safe for rice: Does not adversely affect the growth and development of rice plants.8

  • Flexible application: Can be applied through spraying or broadcasting.9

Target weeds:

Saathi effectively controls various weeds in rice fields, including:10

  • Sedges: Cyperus difformis, Cyperus iria, Fimbristylis miliacea.11

  • Broadleaf weeds: Echinochloa crus-galli, Leptochloa chinensis, Monochoria vaginalis.

  • Grasses: Alternanthera sessilis, Ammannia baccifera, Eclipta alba.

Application:

  • Pre-emergence: Apply 0-3 days after transplanting rice.

  • Early post-emergence: Apply up to 12 days after rice germination, when weeds have 1-3 leaves.12

  • Dosage: 20 grams per acre.

  • Method: Can be applied through spraying or broadcasting.13

Mode of action:

Saathi works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine) in susceptible weeds. These amino acids are essential for plant growth and development.14 By disrupting their production, Saathi effectively controls weed growth.

Safety precautions:

  • Always wear protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection when handling and applying Saathi.

  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.15

  • Do not inhale the spray mist.

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.16
